How do I plan my trip to Canary Islands?

Go during shoulder season

The Canary Islands is a year-round destination. The Canary Islands enjoy pleasant warm weather with mild winters and not too hot summers. The maximum temperature in summer is 30 degrees C. It’s usually between 16 and 17 degrees Celsius, most often in the morning. These temperatures are stable through October. Spring is equally stunning with temperatures that range from 15 to 24 degrees Celsius. For a warm, sunny holiday, travelers from colder countries would prefer to visit the Canary Islands in winter. You can enjoy the beautiful weather and the low rates in accommodation during off-peak seasons, such as March, May, and September to November. Summer is not an expensive time to visit the islands. However, it is more crowded. Consider weather and price when planning your trip to Spain’s Islands. Then, decide where you want to go.
It can sometimes get cold or humid so make sure to bring a sweater or jacket. You should also bring a pair of sneakers for hiking. To ensure you always have a bathing suit, a hat, and sunscreen with you, pack a beach bag. You will need to bring shorts, t-shirts and other summer clothing if you are visiting in the summer months.

Safety comes first

When it comes to crime rates, the Canary Islands is considered a safe destination. In tourist areas, where there are large numbers of tourists, it is possible to commit petty thefts. It’s best to not bring any valuable items to the beach. If you plan to visit a restaurant or shop afterward, you should bring cash. Avoid bringing your credit cards to the beaches. You should not keep your credit cards in your car if you are unable to. Although tap water is generally safe to consume, most tourists prefer to purchase bottled water to ensure their safety.

Consider home rentals

Many Europeans have vacation homes in Canary Islands that they only make use of a few times per year. These vacation homes are unoccupied for the rest of the year so many owners rent them out through platforms like Airbnb, at very low prices. You will find home rentals that suit every budget. They come in all sizes, prices, and styles. You can rent villas, self-catering apartments or whole complexes that include amenities such as gyms and shared pools. These rentals are typically priced at $68 per night, while hotels can cost around $137 per day.

Apart from being cheaper, apartments are more cost-effective than dining out. A home rental is a great option for large groups or families who want to travel together.

Don’t miss out on Fuerteventura

Fuerteventura, the second-largest island in the Canaries after Tenerife is home to some the most stunning beaches in Europe. This island is a popular choice for holiday-makers because of its miles of sandy beaches and beautiful waters. The island is less crowded than all the rest (but not the less beautiful) and offers less tourist infrastructure, but to adventurous travelers who don’t mind taking their time, it’s paradise on Earth.

Rent a bike

Rent a bike instead of driving. This is a great way to get exercise, and it’s much less expensive than renting a vehicle. This works best in some places, but not all. Renting a car is a great way to see Tenerife and visit places like the Mount Teide volcano or the cliffs of Los Gigantes.
If you prefer to be on Fuerteventura’s quieter island, most of the attractions around Corralejo are accessible by bicycle. You can also cycle to the Maspalomas/Meloneras area of Gran Canaria.
