Barcelona

Barcelona is Spain’s cultural capital. Because of its stunning Mediterranean location, famed architecture, and cosmopolitan vibe, the second-largest city in Spain is a constant favourite with visitors. You will find a lot of Antoni Gaudi’s quirky architecture in the Catalonian city, such as La Sagrada Familia. There are also museums that honor the masters like the Picasso Museum. Barri Gotic is a neighborhood that dates back to the Roman Empire. It can be explored as well as centuries-old neighborhoods. You should also take advantage of the city’s magnificent outdoor offerings like Park Guell or La Barceloneta.

Seville

Seville is the capital of Andalusia, southern Spain. It is known for its flamenco culture. To fully experience this melancholic, passionate art form, take in a flamenco show at one of the small bars. Visit the Real Alcazar to learn more about the local history. This well-preserved piece of Mudejar architecture has been reconstructed by Spanish rulers throughout the years. The Metropol Parasol is a large, wooden structure that provides shade during the summer.

San Sebastian

San Sebastian, a small town on the north coast of Spain, is one of the most overlooked destinations. Its beauty is well known by locals, who flock to the beach destination every summer for its stunning shorelines, hiking-friendly mountains, and world-famous pintxos. Pintxo-bar hopping is a great way to experience Basque culture in Parte Vieja or on a tour of pintxos.

Cordoba

Cordoba used to be the capital of Moorish Spain during the Middle Ages. It was also home to the Mezquita (a vast Islamic mosque) which was built between the 8th and the 10th centuries. Part of the mosque was not demolished after the Reconquista of the 13th Century. However, much of the original Islamic design has been preserved. The Unesco World Heritage Site Cordoba Old Town is home to a Roman bridge and charming cobbled streets, as well as some interesting pieces of architecture.

Madrid

Madrid is Spain’s most popular city, and it knows how to make travelers happy. Although Madrid’s reputation for being a party-hard city is true, that’s not all the capital of Spain has going for them. Madrid has many vibrant neighborhoods and beautiful shopping. It also boasts some of Europe’s most prestigious art institutions, such as the Thyssen–Bornemisza National Museum and the Prado Museum.

Valencia

The birthplace and home of paella is the best place to try the most popular Spanish dish. For lunch, go to a beachside eatery – Spanish people don’t eat paella at night because it is too heavy. You can also enjoy agua de Valencia (a cava-based cocktail) to wash it down. The amazing, spaceship-like Valencia City of Arts and Sciences is worth a visit. It’s a futuristic complex that is located in a riverbed. It houses an aquarium, Imax cinema and opera house as well as a science museum.

Galicia

You may think of Spain as dry landscapes and beaches along the Med. But the northwest region Galicia is more like Ireland, with its green and wet areas. Galicia is filled with myths and legends, so the Celtic vibe doesn’t stop at lush landscapes. The Romans believed that the western Cape Finisterre Cliffs were the end of the earth, as did the Romans. Visit the Cies Islands, an archipelago that forms part of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia National Park and a nature reserve, to explore the wilder reaches.

Bilbao

This northern Spanish city is most well-known for its Guggenheim Museum, but there’s much more to Bilbao. The city of Bilbao is situated in the middle a beautiful valley that offers breathtaking views of the city as well as its rolling hills. For delicious pintxos (Basque tapas), visit Casco Viejo, the city’s historic center. Also, explore Parque Etxebarria for some of Bilbao’s most spectacular views. For even more breathtaking views, take the Funicular de Artxanda. It would be impossible to visit Bilbao without visiting the Guggenheim, a world-famous cultural institution.
